About me
Hi, I’m Capri,
I was born in Mexico City in 1977. Graduated from the Escuela de Diseño (EDINBA) of the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes (Design School of the National Fine Arts Institute), Mexico City, Mexico. In 2000, I took the Diploma Course on Illustration at the Graduate and Continuing Education Unit of the Design School of the National Fine Arts Institute in Mexico City. In 2006 I moved to live in Zurich.
As a multidisciplinary artist, I love exploring new techniques, from painting, making ceramics to tattooing, among other things. The point is to explore creativity and I can say that I really enjoy each of the different techniques I do.
I remember after I had completed my studies as a graphic designer, I wanted to do something more artistic, so I asked my uncle, who is a painter, what can I do to be a painter? and he just told me...Capricho paint!
“The more you paint, the more you paint”
So I started painting and I still do. On the painting page you can see from the oldest of my works to the newest. An interesting retrospective. Now my intention is to give for those who enjoy my work a visual pleasure through the armory reached by the composition of joy and bright colors where you can see my Mexican roots. Throughout my career as a painter, in my work is reflected temporality and movement in every sense.
From the last few years, my work has been inspired by Mexican writer and psychoanalyst Alfonso Ruíz Soto’s and about the Theory of seven unconditional loves: affection, support, understanding, pleasure, inspiration, knowledge, and acknowledge.”
Professional Career

In 2001 and 2003 I was selected for the illustration catalog of the International Children and Youth Book Fair (FILIJ), in Mexico City. In 2003, I was selected for the competition “Misterioso Oriente” (Mysterious Orient) of Japan’s Kokusai Art commission. The Cultural Theater Association, Chioggia, Italy, organized this competition. In 2004, I exhibited the series “Ausencias de Julio” at the Bizarro Gallery in Mexico City. Since I live in Switzerland, I have participated in several collective and solo exhibitions, in Zurich, Olten, Morges, Geneva, usw. As a graphic designer, I have worked in the development of several multidisciplinary projects, ranging from printing material to web page design. In this latter area, I obtained an acknowledgement for my work in 2004 at the second Biannual National Design Contest in Mexico.
